Are you familiar with DID, Dissociative Identity Disorder, or commonly known as Multiple Personality Disorder? DID is a mental disorder of one person with multiple dissociated identity states. Kill me, Heal me (킬미, 힐미) is a Korean drama series about a third generation chaebol who suffers from DID. Cha Do Hyun (played by Jisung) lost his memories from 7-8 years old had SEVEN dissociative identities whose cause is hidden from his lost memories.
I recently finished this 20-episode romantic comedy, medical and mystery drama; and it was consistently satisfying. Each episode would leave you hanging, curious of what will happen next. The most interesting thing about the drama that would make you hooked are the identities that you’ll love– Shin Se Gi, Perry Park, Ahn Yo Sub, Ahn Yo Na, Nana, and Mr. X. They have one face but different personalities.
The first time I was so touched and teary-eyed was when Do Hyun asked if he was a monster. It was heart wrenching to watch and hear someone ask if he’s turning into a monster when he did nothing wrong and suffer to such mental disorder. How I wish to enter the monitor and hug him really really tight just so he would know that he’s not a monster and he deserves love. Yo Sub is the character I want to hug the most, as well as Se Gi. Se Gi’s tears never fail to make me tear-eyed as well. He just hold so much baggage deep down. Yo Na’s appearances were definitely the funniest for me, she makes the most ruckus out of them all. haha
All actors were commendable for their intense and great acting, as well as writer-nim for the fantastic storyline and plot. Hwang Jung Eum and Park Seo Joon were really good, but Jisung was really great in this drama. I became a fan. He portrayed all identities giving justice to the differences that they hold. I’ve grown to love each identity, differentiating each and everyone of them despite having one body and face. The OST perfectly suit each and every moment of the drama. I was LSS mode with 환청 (Auditory Hallucination) by Jang Jae In feat. NaShow, and 너를 보낸다 (Letting You Go) by Park Seo Joon is very heartfelt.
Kill Me, Heal Me is a messy and unique drama that is beautiful and profound. Keep your tissues handy because this drama is full of heart and substance.
“Within each person’s heart is a dark basement. If you look away or stand by, that darkness thickens. You must summon your courage to go down and turn on the light. If you’re scared to go alone, you can hold someone’s hand.”
