A quick rundown for this good slice-of-life drama with a feel-good romantic comedy.
Baek Seung Chan (Kim Soo Hyun) is a rookie PD at the Variety department of Korean Broadcasting Station (KBS) where he meets his senior PDs, Ra Joon Mo (Cha Tae Hyun) and Tak Ye Jin (Gong Hyo Jin). On the sixth floor of the KBS building, the variety show producers and writers spend most of their days coming up with ideas for the next hit program. People work tirelessly day and night behind the scenes to put together the shows and programs that entertain all of South Korea. Portraying the celebrities’ point of view, IU plays the popular idol Cindy.
As Kim Soo Hyun’s comeback project alongside an incredible cast, everyone (including yours truly) was really, really, excited for The Producers to air. In a way, this drama was an experiment of trying something different. I think the unique filming format and air time of this drama makes it special. It might seem a bit odd to those who aren’t used to seeing this docu-format, but I think it really allows for a more subtle style of humor that other dramas miss. There was not much romantic comedy aspect overall, it was more like a teaser for the romantic part. Nonetheless, the pacing and development was perfect for the teasers. I may just add that the episode titles were cute, and how it was related to the characters’ situations. Cameos of celebrities were aalso a bonus for this drama! Dara~ Kang Seungyoon~ 🙂
Kim Soo Hyun is truly a gem in acting. He’s versatile and can portray a wide range of characters. How frustrating watching Baek Seung Chan is, seriously? On the other hand, Cha Tae Hyun may seem to have almost the same acting style for his characters but can portray each characters individually. Like you can watch him as Ra Joon Mo and just think he’s Ra Joon Mo. Personally, I’m a fan of Cha Taehyun. ㅋㅋㅋ
